The new analysis of government data comes from “Carbon Brief”, an environmental analysis website. The authors of report say the EU’s product standards for light bulbs, refrigerators, vacuum cleaners and other appliances play an important role in reducing energy demand. Temporary calculations show that UK electricity generation peaked in 2005. But now per capita electricity generation has returned to its 1984 level (about 5 MW/h per capita).galvanized steel tubing suppliers
The ‘Cinderella’ efficiency
Simon Evans, from Carbon Brief, told BBC News that despite the complexity of the situation, it is clear that energy efficiency has played a huge role in helping Britain achieve decarbonization – I do not think it has received the recognition it deserves. He added “Say you change from a B or C-rated fridge to an A++ rated fridge. That can halve your energy use from the appliance, so it is pretty significant.”
